Are you a ghost profile in your job search?

You’re highly qualified.

So why is your LinkedIn inbox still quiet?

Here’s what most professionals do not realise.

It is not about being good at what you do.
It is about being searchable.

Recruiters do not sit there reading profiles one by one, hoping to discover talent.

They search.

They open LinkedIn Recruiter or their internal database and type in specific keywords related to the role they are hiring for. Job titles. Skills. Systems. Certifications. Industry terms. Seniority.

The platform then shows them profiles that match those search terms.

If your headline, summary, and experience are not aligned with how recruiters are searching, you simply do not show up.

Not because you are not capable.
But because you are not discoverable.

At People and Purpose, we call this having a ghost profile.

Strong experience.
Low visibility.

It often looks like this:

• Your headline describes what you do, but not what you want next
• Your experience lists responsibilities, not outcomes
• The keywords on your profile reflect your past role, not your target role
• Your profile sounds impressive, but not searchable

And in a market where recruiters manage hundreds, sometimes thousands, of profiles in their databases, clarity is not optional.

It is strategy.

The uncomfortable truth is this:

If you are not appearing in searches, you are not entering conversations.

So What Do You Do?

Before rewriting your entire profile again, start with awareness.

We created a free LinkedIn Profile Health Check to help you understand your current visibility score and see how well your profile aligns with recruiter search behaviour.

It highlights:

• How searchable your profile is
• Where keyword gaps may exist
• What may be weakening your visibility

This is not about adding fluff.
It is about aligning your profile with how hiring actually works.

If you later decide you want structured support beyond that, our People & Purpose Program offers guided pathways across 3-month, 6-month, and 12-month options.

Clarity creates visibility.
Visibility creates opportunity.

And opportunity begins with being seen.

The Job Search Has Changed. Here's What You Need to Know.
If submitting online applications is still your main job search strategy, it is time to rethink. AI tools now let candidates mass apply to hundreds of roles a day with auto-generated resumes. Employers who once received hundreds of applications per role are now receiving thousands. According to Huntr's Q2 2025 Job Search Trends Report, LinkedIn job posts currently return a response rate of j...
Is your LinkedIn profile holding you back
Most professionals assume recruiters read LinkedIn profiles. In reality, recruiters search them. When a recruiter is hiring, they are not scrolling through thousands of profiles hoping to find the right person. They are using LinkedIn’s search tools to filter candidates by specific keywords, job titles, and skills. That means your profile only becomes visible if it matches the way recruiters...
How to explain a career gap with confidence
A career gap can feel bigger in your head than it actually is. Many capable professionals worry that a few months, or even a year, away from work will automatically count against them. The truth is, most hiring managers are not looking for a “perfect timeline.” They are looking for clarity, honesty, and confidence in how you talk about your experience. A gap is only awkward when you feel awk...
